Your Generosity and The Benefits of Hospice Donations
We believe every patient deserves to be treated with dignity, respect and compassion, and we strive to make that a reality for every person under our care.
As a nonprofit hospice and palliative care organization, we rely on the generosity of our donors and supporters to help us fulfill our mission. We are deeply grateful for the benefits of hospice donation and our community’s trust in us. We want you to know that support can make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.
Donating to Tillery Compassionate Care can have meaningful benefits for patients, families, donors and the broader community.
Here Are 5 Key Benefits of Hospice Donations
1. Support for End-of-Life Care
Donations help hospices help patients live life to the fullest, with a maximum degree of comfort, so they can enjoy time with family and friends. This includes:
- Pain and symptom management
- Emotional, spiritual, and psychological support
- Bereavement counseling for families
2. Access for Underserved Communities
Philanthropic support enables Tillery Compassionate Care to offer care to those who might not otherwise afford it, including the uninsured or underinsured.
As a nonprofit organization, Tillery Compassionate Care is committed to providing care regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
3. Enhancement of Services
Donations often fund:
- Expressive Arts Series – Includes a writing workshop, painting workshop, and book club. The events are open to the public.
- Memory bears – TCC offers families of our patients a memory bear created from special material that belonged to the patient.
- Bereavement mailings – Quarterly mailing of information to help aid in the grieving process.
- Camp Forget-Me-Not – Our summer camp for children who have experienced a loss offers fun activities as well as opportunities for children to express their grief. The annual butterfly release is a favorite among our campers and volunteers.
- Individual grief counseling is provided by licensed therapists in the home or the TCC office for children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced the death of a loved one.
It’s important to note that hospice care is paid for by:
- Medicare
- Medicaid
- Private insurance plans
- Private pay
Medicare requires that bereavement services be offered by an accredited hospice organization, but Medicare does not reimburse for the expenses.
The need for grief therapy is a real need in the community, with little in the way of counseling options or mental health physician practices.
4. Community Education and Outreach
Tillery Compassionate Care provides public education on topics like grief, caregiving, and advance care planning, which is one of the many benefits of hospice donations.
5. Legacy
For donors, especially those who have experienced hospice care for a loved one:
- It’s a way to honor a life or legacy
- Provides personal meaning and emotional fulfillment
- May offer tax benefits (if donating to a registered nonprofit)
We were founded through the grassroots efforts of people in this community, and we continue to be governed locally by a board of directors.
Through the generosity of area individuals, businesses, churches and civic groups, Tillery Compassionate Care has provided care to more than 8,000 chronic and seriously ill residents since 1981.
We remain focused on the comfort of our patients—and the spiritual, emotional, and psychological support we provide to patients and their families.
